In a vibrant city with so much diversity, it can be a challenge to find the right community to settle down in and start a family. For engaged Shelly and Paul, Redstone proved to be the perfect place to start their lives together while remaining close to what matters most - family.
For Shelly and Paul, it has always been obvious to them that they were meant to be together; even at a young age. “Paul and I met while I was in 8th grade and he was in the 9th. He was my first crush and my very first boyfriend” Shelly told us. With so much in common, it’s no surprise they found each other. They are both born and raised in Calgary, they both have large families, and family always comes first in both of their lives. “Family has always been above all else for both of us” Shelly explained.
Like any love story, this one wasn’t without some challenges. Shelly moved to British Columbia for high school, and being apart proved to be a challenge for the couple. Luckily, as Shelly explained to us, when it’s meant to be, love always finds a way to bring two people back together “when we met again, it was so easy to fall back in love and now we are finally getting married!”
Paul surprised his beautiful bride to be with a trip to Vegas, and the day they arrived he gave Shelly the surprise of her life. “Paul was so nervous and I found it strange as he always has things under control. After we ate, he asked if we could go on a walk to Caesar’s Palace.
Once we got there, he asked me to look at the replica Eiffel Tower as it lit up and when I turned around, Paul was down on one knee with a ring in his hand” Shelly told us. The surprises weren’t done there for Shelly. “He took me into a limo and when we got to the next destination, there was a helicopter with champagne waiting for us. This all made me realize how blessed I am.” Shelly added.
Upon returning to Calgary as a newly engaged couple, it was time to start their next chapter together and look for their first home. Shelly and Paul had some specific needs that their new home had to meet. They wanted a home in a diverse, family-friendly, and safe community that was close to amenities such as shopping, schools, parks, and trails. Most importantly, their new home had to be in a northeast community so that they could be close to their families.
As a young couple with such close family ties, it seemed a natural fit for Shelly and Paul to buy their first home together close to their roots in the vibrant city of Calgary. “We were ready to move out and start our lives together, but we wanted to stay close to our families,” Shelly told us. “Family is extremely important to both Paul and I. We’ve both had some crazy struggles throughout our lives, but we can always come back to family no matter what” she added.
Through all of life’s struggles, Shelly and Paul still managed to find soulmates in each other and together, they found a home in Redstone. “Paul and I thought that this would be a great community for us to start our family in because it’s safe and has spacious lots” Shelly explained when asked about how she decided on Redstone. “I personally feel like Redstone is professionally developed and has a lot of potential. I believe it will attract a lot of diversity, similar to my old community and I enjoy that aspect of it. I feel at home in Redstone” Shelly also feels like Redstone is a community where a lot of people are at the same point in life, which gave her a lot of comfort in her choice. She told us “There are a lot of younger families starting out. It gives me a sense of security knowing I am in a community where others are going through the same experience.”
As Calgary’s fastest growing community with a focus on diversity, Redstone offers everything that Shelley and Paul were looking for. The community is designed with every stage of life in mind and is ideal for young families. With over 3.5 kilometres of outdoor pathways, greenspace, and parks, it is a great community to explore. Redstone is also conveniently located near many popular amenities in Calgary’s northeast including the Genesis Centre for Wellness, shopping centres including CrossIron Mills, places of worship, and several schools.
With so much to offer, Redstone is an obvious choice for a young family.
After falling in love with Redstone as a community, Shelly and Paul turned their sights to the home. For Shelly and Paul, deciding on a builder was an easy choice. They decided to build with Pacesetter by Sterling Homes. Pacesetter’s client-focused approach was exactly what Shelly and Paul were looking for in a builder. “My builder, Pacesetter, had a lot of influence on us choosing to live in Redstone. They were so open to building my dream home and did everything exactly how we wanted it.”
Shelly and Paul couldn’t be happier with the choice they made, and that they get to start their life together in their new home in Redstone. “Buying our first home was such a big move in our lives. I’m so excited to start this new journey in our new home with my best friend! I look forward to starting my own family with Paul and feel extremely blessed to be able to start this next chapter in my life!”
The next step for Shelley and Paul is their wedding this August. The couple is having a traditional Sikh wedding with many joyful festivities and traditions. “Traditions are very important for a Sikh wedding, and we will incorporate many of them!” Shelly said. “I can’t wait to be in a room filled with everyone I love and everyone who loves and supports us.” The wedding is expected to have over 600 guests.
With abundant green spaces, tons of amenities and a community plaza opening soon, there’s even more opportunity to fall in love with Redstone!
